KLEIBURG winner Dutch Design Awards 2017!

Kleiburg received an other incredible award! After receiving the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award 2017 earlier this year, Kleiburg was awarded the Dutch Design Award 2o17 in the Habitat catergory. Kleiburg also won the Future Award, the over all award for the most forward looking design. It is again an incredible recognition for the hard work of everybody that contributed to the project, the courage of the initiators and the ongoing commitment of the Kleiburgers!

The Award ceremony is the closing event of the Dutch Design Week. In a fully packed main hall of the Effenaar in Eindhoven, the Design Awards were given to projects divided in eight categories, amongst others Young Talent and a Public Award. This year, also the biannual BNO Piet Zwart Prize was handed to Lust. The Future Award is awarded to one of the category winners, after the decision of an international jury.

From the jury report:

“DeFlat addresses an urgent topic: throughout the world, a multitude of buildings built in the 1960s and 1970s deserve renovation rather than the wrecking ball. The jury particularly praises the fact that a tangible solution is offered for the genuine, international problem of scalable re-appropriation. After several attempts at revitalising developments in the Bijlmer Amsterdam, DeFlat Kleiburg is the first to succeed, genuinely improving the quality of life of the block’s residents and the community. An encouraging example.”
